A violent confrontation broke out this week at a Ukrainian military recruitment facility in Kiev, reportedly located at the Darnitsa Railcar Repair Plant. Footage circulating online shows a group of recently mobilized men yelling at enlistment officers, refusing to comply with orders.
Tensions escalate quickly. The men barricade the building’s exit and urge others to grab sticks or anything they can find to fight their way out. Their anger appears to stem from conditions inside the facility and fear of being sent to the front without proper training or support.
Police and special forces units are soon deployed. Armed with batons, they storm the facility, beating several men and forcing them to the ground. Some are dragged out of the barracks in restraints.
This is one of the most serious known incidents of internal dissent among Ukraine’s mobilized forces since the war began. It follows a series of reports highlighting morale issues, desertions, and the increasingly aggressive measures used to meet recruitment targets.
So far, Ukrainian authorities have not issued an official statement about the incident.
