JD Vance Dismisses Gaza Genocide Accusations on Theo Von Podcast

JD Vance went on Theo Von’s podcast and was challenged about U.S. support for Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.

Von called the campaign a massacre and said he considers it a genocide. He accused the U.S. of prioritising Israel’s interests over its own.

Vance rejected the term genocide and defended U.S. policy. He said he does not believe what is happening in Gaza qualifies as genocide.

Rather than stay on the subject, Vance shifted the conversation to the war in Ukraine. He drew comparisons between the two conflicts, though the situations differ in scale, context, and U.S. involvement.

Vance did not directly address the scale of destruction in Gaza or the civilian death toll. He did not offer an alternative term for the campaign or outline what level of violence would qualify as genocide in his view.

The exchange shows the gap between the political defense of U.S. foreign policy and growing public discomfort with the human toll of the Gaza campaign. It also highlights how officials are avoiding direct engagement with the legal and moral claims being raised.
