Governance Without Consent: The End Of Accountable Power

The quiet shift from public accountability to algorithmic administration.

Across the developed world, governance is becoming more abstract, less accountable, and harder to monitor. Decisions affecting daily life increasingly originate not from national parliaments or elected councils, but from international working groups, technical committees, and non-state entities whose names most voters do not know. These actors include multinational organisations, commercial data firms, and military research agencies. Their combined focus is the development and deployment of artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, and cross-border data governance. The official language surrounding these efforts is managerial and positive. The practical effect is a concentration of decision-making in hands not directly answerable to the public.
