Kremlin says the operation will continue until core aims are satisfied

Putin said Russia will meet every objective set at the start of its military campaign in Ukraine and framed the operation as a response to actions he blamed on Kiev. He repeated that Russia’s central aim remains protecting residents of Donetsk and Lugansk, and he tied this goal to earlier statements about demilitarizing and removing hostile elements from Ukraine’s political system. He said Russia will continue the campaign until these objectives are fully met, and he described this as a matter of carrying the operation to its final endpoint. He restated that the conflict began when Ukrainian forces moved into Donbass after the 2014 change of government in Kiev, and he argued that Russia entered the fight only after years of failed diplomatic efforts.

He cited the Minsk agreements as an example of attempted negotiation and said later comments from Western officials showed those deals were never meant to be honored. He said recent diplomatic moves by Trump offer potential ground for discussion, and he welcomed the idea of talks built on concrete proposals. He said Ukraine is slowing negotiations with help from Western governments, and he warned that Russia will continue advancing its aims by force while diplomacy remains stalled.
